DEMOCRATIC REGIME AS A FORM OF THE POLITICAL STRUCTURE OF SOCIETY

Abstract

The article considers the essence of a democratic political regime as a form of organizing the political system. This regime reflects the relationship between government and society, the level of political freedom and nature of political life in the country. In a brief historical retrospective (from Plato and Aristotle, the classics of ancient Greek philosophy, to modern concepts of democracy) the evolution of democratic political structure of a society is shown. Its essential features and principles are characterized. It is shown that a democratic political regime manifests itself differently in different countries, which causes main advantages and weaknesses of democracy in the modern world.
