Кавказ был и остается важным узлом национальных и религиозных противоречий, жестко- го военного и политического противостояния, участие в котором вынуждена принимать Россия с момента своего естественного геополитического расшире- ния на Юг. Боевые действия на Северном Кавказе в 1990-е гг. и начале нового XXI в., в той либо иной степени затронувшие все местные народы, заметно обострили интерес к историческому прошлому этого региона, к многогранной и истории национально-го- сударственного строительства на Северном Кавка- зе. В представленной статье с позиций взвешенного объективного анализа показаны особенности нацио- нальной политики России в этом регионе.
The Caucasus has always been and now remains an important hub of national and religious controversy, fierce military and political confrontation in which Russia has to take part since the beginning of its natural geopolitical extension to the south. Hostilities in the North Caucasus in the 1990s and at the beginning of the new XXI century affected each local nation in varying degrees and visibly increased interest to the historical past of this disquieting region, particularly, to the polyhedral and complicated history of the state nation- building in the North Caucasus. This article submits specific features of Russian national policy in terms of a weighted objective analysis
