В статье рассматривается структура правоприменительной системы в государстве в северной Месопотамии со столицей в городе Ашшур. Функции различных правовых институтов реконструируются с использованием публичных источников и документов частного права из Каниша (ашшурские купцы играли ведущую роль в создании торговых колоний в Малой Азии). Особую роль в судебной системе играл представитель города Ашшура в Канише, выступавший в местных судах в качестве адвоката и в качестве свидетеля.

The paper examines the structure of law enforcement system in the city-state of Assur.The functions and role of various legal institutions are restored with the use of public law sources and private documents from Kanish (Merchants of Assur played the leading role in the creation of trading colonies system in Asia Minor). The representative of the city of Assur in Kanish played a special role in the judicial system: he appeared in local courts as a lawyer and witness.
