Статья посвящена важному этапу в истории развития канадского консерватизма, посвященному борьбе правых консерваторов за власть на парламентских выборах 1993, 1997 и 2000 гг. под руководством видных политиков П. Мэннинга и С. Дея. Автор уделяет внимание особенностям предвыборных кампаний правых консерваторов, их попыткам сделать Партию реформ и Канадский консервативный альянс реформ общенациональным партиями, отвечающими интересам электората. В работе подчеркивается, что правоконсервативная идеология в Канаде являлась неотъемлемой частью развития консерватизма в этой стране.
This article describes a difficult and important period of Canadian conservatism, which is devoted to the struggle for power of the Reform Party and the Canadian Reform Conservative Alliance under the leadership of Preston Manning and Stockwell Day during the general elections of 1993, 1997 and 2000. Therefore the author draws the reader’s attention to the general election campaigns of the right Conservatives, as well as to their attempts to make the parties nationwide, applicable to the interests of the Canadian voters. The author underlines that the right Conservatism in Canada is an essential part of the whole process of the Conservatism development in this country.
