Цель. Проведение сравнительного анализа взглядов англо-американских и советских исследователей института военных комиссаров РККА в предвоенные годы.

Процедура и методы

Процедура и методы. Основными исследовательскими методами стали диахронный и историко-сравнительный анализы. Проведён сравнительный анализ взглядов англо-американских и советских исследователей по вопросам, связанным с введением в 1937 г. института военных комиссаров в РККА. Изучаемые вопросы исследованы в их развитии в течение времени.

Результаты

Результаты. Выяснено, что западные исследователи связывают введение института военных комиссаров с предстоявшими репрессиями и уделяют основное внимание контрольной функции этого института. Изменений во взглядах в зависимости от времени публикаций не отмечено. В исследованиях советских историков наблюдаются изменения в оценках в зависимости от времени публикаций.

Теоретическая и/или практическая значимость. Определены сущность и содержания методологических подходов при изучении института военных комиссаров англо-американскими и советскими историками.

Aim

Aim. Conducting a comparative analysis of the views of Anglo-American and Soviet researchers of the Institute of Military Commissars of the Red Army in the pre-war years.

Methodology

Methodology. The primary research methods were diachronic and historical-comparative. A comparative analysis was conducted of the views of Anglo-American and Soviet researchers on issues related to the introduction of the institution of military commissars in the Red Army in 1937. The issues under study were examined in their development and changes over time.

Results

Results. It was found that Western researchers associate the introduction of the military commissar institution with the upcoming repressions and focus primarily on the oversight function of this institution. No changes in views were observed depending on the time of publication. In studies by Soviet historians, changes in assessments were observed depending on the time of publication.

Research implications

Research implications. The essence and content of methodological approaches in the study of the institution of military commissars by Anglo-American and Soviet historians was clarified.
