Цель. Попытка определить происхождение, смысл, время и поводы появления в московской монетной чеканке символа «голубь», который впоследствии обрёл положение одного из ведущих символов в русской монетной чеканке.

Процедура и методы

Процедура и методы. Рассмотрен конкретный пример выявления имплицитной информации политического характера из нумизматических источников. В исследовании применялся неокантианский метод.

Результаты

Результаты. Выдвигается концепция, согласно которой изображение «голубь», ставшее одним из ведущих символов общегосударственной российской монетной чеканки, означает голубя ветхозаветного. Это именно тот голубь, который подарил надежду на спасение праотцу Ною во время библейского всемирного потопа. Данный вывод сделан на основе анализа монет, выпущенных Псковским монетным двором на протяжении XVI и XVII столетий.

Теоретическая и/или практическая значимость. Результаты исследования вносят вклад в историю российской государственной символики.1

Aim

Aim. To determine the origin, meaning, time and reasons for the appearance of the “dove” symbol in the Moscow coinage, which subsequently acquired the position of one of the leading symbols in Russian coinage.

Methodology

Methodology. The article considers a specific example of identifying implicit information of political nature in numismatic sources. The method used in the article is neo-kantian.

Results

Results. A concept is put forward, according to which the “dove” image, which has become one of the leading symbols of Russian coinage, is the Old Testament dove. This is the dove that gave hope for salvation to the forefather Noah during the global flood. This conclusion is based on the analysis of the coins issued by Pskov Mint in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Research implications

Research implications. The results of the study contribute to the history of Russian state symbols.
